Fornite’s Mech Still Causing Anger In Community, EPIC Responds

You could count on one hand the number of things introduced into Fortnite that have caused players to react with as much vitriol as the B.R.U.T.E. Mech that came with Season 10. With players up at arms about the OP nature of the weaponized machine, EPIC has responded in a blog post in a way that probably won’t satisfy much of the community.

“The mission of Fortnite is to bring players of all skill levels together to have a fun experience where anyone can win. For example – everyone having a shot at that first elimination or Victory Royale moment and the satisfying feeling that comes with it. Right now, we know there are players out there who have never had that opportunity.”

This seems to point to an increased focus on bringing in new players or getting gamers who are just starting off to commit to the game. Whether this is an attempt to get newer players to start playing for longer and having more fun or a decision made based on their sales funnel (probably the latter), the outrage from the more competitive players has risen to new highs.

Even this week as Apex Legends released its new Solo mode, one of the top voted posts on the Apex Legends subreddit was about Fortnite players coming over to join because they were frustrated with EPIC not listening to their concerns. With almost 15,000 upvotes, it’s clear that there are a significant number of people that are unhappy with the addition of the Mech.

Whatever your stance on the Season 10 wackiness, the Mech looks set to stay relatively unchanged for, at least, the rest of the season. So, when you hear one nearby, get in or get run over.
