Bot Lane Revolution

Thanks to a European player outside of the pro scene, the hottest bot lane combo now doesn’t feature an ADC. In both Ranked and competitive play, it’s all about the Sona+Taric combo that is surprisingly hard to beat. Here’s how you use them.

Sona+Taric are extremely gold efficient. First, Sona with Kleptomancy and Teleport hits enemies to complete the Support quest of Spellthief’s Edge, while Taric gets creeps. Then, Sona upgrades the item, teleports back to the lane and starts farming minions herself.

As a result, Taric receives a nice gold boost early game and keeps getting gold from Targon’s afterward. He builds protective items while Sona goes full AP to destroy the opposition.

The combo is almost untouchable. Sona has a heal and an MS boost, plus her ultimate is a skill shot stun. Taric has a heal, a stun, and temporary invulnerability. Once team fights kick in, enemies will struggle to kill both them and their three other players.

Your teammates may be of help as well. Once Sona starts racking up the kills, they will be more likely to protect the not-so-glass cannon and set up good fights for her. The combo has become quite popular by now, so you won’t have to spend a lot of time justifying it in chat.

Another benefit is extra vision. As both Sona and Taric complete their Support item quests, you get to have two Sightstones instead of one. You two are unlikely to die together, but another ward or two may save your teammates as well.

Beware all-in lanes. It’s rare to see a Draven+Leona lane nowadays, but this is exactly what I’d play to counter this nasty combo. Sona is too squishy early on, and Leona has enough CC to fight through all the CC and invulnerability.
