CHECK PLAYER RANK AND STATS
It seems like just yesterday that we were dropping into King’s Canyon alone…intentionally. The Iron Crown Collection Event ended in mid-August and I don’t think anyone was expecting another event to start so soon after. Might this signal a change in cadence for the developer? We know that Apex started off strongly and then fell off sharply when fans of Fortnite returned to that title citing a “lack of content” in the early going. So, what will we see in Apex Legends tomorrow? And, will content updates come more frequently than what we’ve seen up until this point?
For starters, the solo mode that left the game recently is being replaced, temporarily, by a “Shotties and Snipers” mode tomorrow, September 3. Aptly named, Armed and Dangerous will focus on long range and extremely close range weaponry. With no chance to “spray and pray”, players will have to be laser-focused to down opponents. Or, they’ll just need to get up close and personal with a Peacekeeper.
Along with the limited weaponry available to players, “overall loot is much harder to come by”, according the post last week from the devs. What that means is not yet known. Will we be seeing players running around for the first ten minutes looking for armor? Or, will we be opening crates which have absolutely nothing in them because the only items that will appear will be those related to sniper rifles and shotguns? We’ll see tomorrow.
As part of the overall event, titled “Voidwalker” in honor of everyone’s favorite goth, Wraith, King’s Canyon will be getting another tiny makeover in the form of a town takeover.
“Syndicate construction crews have unearthed part of a decayed Project: Wraith facility in Kings Canyon,” Respawn said. “Jump in to discover for yourself the mysterious remains of the research site, including a functional prototype portal that can be used to get an early jump on the base – or to escape and reinitiate skydive. And be sure to keep an eye out for other hidden lore details.
The last town takeover, Octane’s Gauntlet gave players an X Games-inspired skate park just between Airbase and Thunderdome. The Wraith event looks like it will be in the Shattered Forest, between Hydro Dam and Wetlands, but there’s been no official word yet. A reddit user named FrozenFroh posted the below picture of construction flags and their locations.
From September 6-9, players will be able to earn Double XP for Top 5 finishes as well as and Wins. This double XP will impact player and battle pass leveling. With the immediate fury that came from the pricing during the Iron Crown Event, a shop where the items can be purchased individually will also be made available to players. The Voidwalker Wraith skin can be found there. Also promised are “lower price-point” items. Those items will cost somewhere around $5, and are “event limited” for six months. There will also be six new legendary items that will be added to the core loot pool.
Tuesday can’t come fast enough, and we’ll keep you updated on everything else that comes to King’s Canyon with the Voidwalker Patch notes as soon as they come out.

With the most recent update for Apex Legends coming out just about an hour ago, it wouldn’t have been crazy to think that getting a new mode, a new town takeover, and some purchasable cosmetics was going to be the center of attention. That might be true for some people....
